Chief Adviser Yunus Participates in UNGA Inaugural Session

New york: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today attended the inaugural session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters here in the USA. He was accompanied by Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, and Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, prior to the session, the Chief Adviser had discussions with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet, and President of the World Bank Ajay Banga. Bachelet previously served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2018 to 2022.



As per his schedule, the Chief Adviser is slated to meet with the director general of the World Trade Organization at 10:30 am. This will be followed by a meeting with the President of the World Bank at 11 am. A meeting with Her Majesty M¡xima, the Queen of the Netherlands, is also on the agenda for 11:30 am.



He is set to attend the “Fashion for Development (F4D): 13th Annual Official First Ladies Luncheon” at 12:30 pm. Later, at 2:45 pm, he will join a “Meeting of Public and Private Sector Leaders on Social Innovation: Mobilizing Financing through Social Innovation” in New York.



In the evening, the Chief Adviser will participate in a reception hosted by United States President Donald Trump and Mrs. Melania Trump at 7 pm.



Chief Adviser Prof Yunus arrived in New York on Monday to partake in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
