Dhaka: Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur: Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali has underscored the importance of a blended or mixed teaching system in modernizing higher education across the country’s universities. He emphasized that this approach, which combines direct teaching with online education, is vital for elevating the standard of higher education to meet international benchmarks.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Ali shared these insights while addressing a workshop titled “Innovating University Teaching through Blended Learning: Strategies, Tools and Practices for the Modern Classroom.” The event took place at the university’s Virtual Classroom of Academic Bhaban-2, under the organization of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of BRUR, and was presided over by its Director, Professor Dr. Md Tajul Islam.
During the workshop, Dr. Mostafa Mahmood Hasan, Dean of the School of Business at Khwaja Yunus Ali University, Bangladesh, and its IQAC Director, presented the keynote paper. His presentation explored various aspects, including the application and strategy of the ‘mixed teaching method.’
Professor Ali further elaborated that in today’s age of information technology, a collaborative effort involving the government, university faculty, and students is essential for the effective implementation of the blended learning system. The workshop saw participation from teachers across different departments of Begum Rokeya University.
Also present at the workshop were Dr. Md Abdul Latif and Dr. Md Abdur Rakib, Additional Directors of the IQAC of BRUR.
