Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant in the capital’s Dasherkandi area and inspected its ongoing development works. During the visit, the minister reviewed the overall progress of the project and exchanged views with the relevant officials and staff.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the importance of maintaining the highest standards of service, stating that effective sewage management is crucial for safeguarding public health and protecting the urban environment. He also emphasized the need for the increased use of modern technology to provide a sustainable solution to Dhaka’s longstanding drainage problems.
At a meeting held at the site, senior officials, including the Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and the Executive Engineer of the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant, briefed the minister on the project’s current status, future plans, and measures taken to improve service quality.
The minister expressed optimism, stating, “Through coordinated initiatives and the use of modern technology, the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant will be established as an effective and environmentally friendly sanitation model for the residents of Dhaka.”
