Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the recent attack on Baul followers, describing the incident as a disgraceful act against Bangladesh's cultural heritage. During his visit to the Thakurgaon district BNP office, where he inaugurated a new building, Mirza Fakhrul spoke to journalists and expressed his outrage over the attack, which he attributed to extremist and religiously fanatical groups.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that Bauls, known for their folk songs, are an integral part of the rural cultural tradition in Bangladesh. The BNP leader criticized the attack as an affront to this tradition and called it deplorable. He urged for a collective condemnation of such acts that threaten the cultural fabric of the nation.
Additionally, Mirza Fakhrul addressed the recent fire incident at the Korail slum in Dhaka, where several thousand residents were affected. He highlighted the plight of these families who have been rendered destitute by the disaster. Stressing the urgency of the situation, he demanded that the government provide compensation to the victims and conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
Mirza Fakhrul insisted that if any individual is found responsible for the fire, they should face appropriate legal consequences. The call for action was supported by other BNP leaders present at the event, including District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Paigam Ali, and Municipal BNP President Shariful Islam Sharif.
