Singapore: Mirza Abbas, a political adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and a member of the BNP Standing Committee, was admitted to Singapore General Hospital on Sunday afternoon.
According to United News of Bangladesh, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam confirmed Abbas’s arrival in Singapore, stating that the air ambulance safely completed the journey in approximately three and a half hours. Upon arrival, Abbas was quickly transported from the airport to the hospital by ambulance.
Dr. Rafiqul further reported that Abbas was admitted to the Neuro ICU under the neurology department. The doctors have already conducted examinations, and Abbas did not experience any difficulties during the flight. He is currently in a safe condition.
The air ambulance carrying Abbas departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 11:17am on Sunday. Accompanying him on the flight were his wife Afroza Abbas, son Yasir Abbas, and Dr. Zafar Iqbal from Evercare Hospital.
Mirza Abbas had undergone brain surgery on Friday. Following nearly four hours of surgery, he was moved to the ICU that night. The BNP leader had initially been admitted to Evercare Hospital on Wednesday evening after he unexpectedly fell sick and lost consciousness during iftar. A medical board of leading neurologists was formed to oversee his treatment.
