Jhenaidah: A minor child named Meem Khatun, aged 3, was killed after being struck by a moving auto-van in Shailkupa upazila of the district. The accident took place around 11 am in Goshaidanga village under Sarutia Union of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Meem was the daughter of Kabir Hossain, a resident of the same village. The tragic incident occurred while Meem was playing beside the road in front of her house. A passenger-carrying auto-van lost control and hit the child, leading to the unfortunate event.
Family members, who witnessed the child being crushed under the wheels of the auto-van, promptly rescued Meem in a critical condition. She was taken to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead upon arrival.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shailkupa Police Station, Humayun Kabir Molla, confirmed the incident and stated that legal action will be taken in response to the accident.
