Dhaka: The Primary and Mass Education Ministry has instructed the Primary Education Directorate to upgrade the position of 45 headmasters to the 10th grade of the national pay scale.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a notification from the ministry, signed by Joint Secretary Rebeka Sultana, outlined this directive following an appellate division judgment from the Supreme Court. The notification signifies a significant decision aimed at enhancing the pay scale for the specified group of headmasters.
The notification further explained that the Primary and Mass Education Ministry had recently sent a letter to the Finance Ministry seeking approval for the pay scale upgrade, which would require an additional allocation of Taka 23,69,140. This financial adjustment is necessary to facilitate the elevation of the headmasters’ positions as per the Supreme Court’s directive.
These 45 headmasters had initially filed a writ petition before the High Court in 2018, seeking an upgrade of their posts from the 11th to the 10th grade of the pay scale. The recent decision to upgrade their positions will only apply to the writ petitioners, as specified in the notification.
