Mini Cold Storage, ‘Khamari App’ to Transform Agriculture: Jahangir

Savar: Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today announced that the introduction of mini cold storage facilities and the ‘Khamari App’ will bring a new dimension to agriculture in the country.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser emphasized the significance of these initiatives in achieving high yields on limited agricultural land and preserving perishable goods. He noted, “The ‘Khamari app’ has been launched to disseminate modern and scientific farming management practices among farmers. Additionally, mini cold storage facilities have been established to preserve vegetables and fruits produced by farmers.”



Jahangir made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the farmers’ mini cold storage activities and the ‘Khamari app’ at the Horticulture Center in the Rajalakh area of Savar. He further revealed plans to construct 100 mini cold storages nationwide.



The event was presided over by Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, and attended by prominent figures such as Md Saiful Alam, Director General of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), and Talha Zubair Masror, Director of the Tissue Culture Laboratory cum Horticulture Center Establishment and Development Project.



Following the inauguration, Jahangir also took the opportunity to inspect the mushroom cultivation project in Savar.
