Narail: A three-day Shilpakala Academy Utshab-2025 commenced today at the Narail Zila Shilpakala Academy, bringing together artists and cultural enthusiasts. The event was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (education and ICT) Md Ahsan Mahmud Russel, who attended as the chief guest. The ceremony was presided over by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director (Fine Arts) Mustafa Zaman.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inaugural function was graced by several notable figures, including former Khulna University Fine Arts Department teacher Professor Bimanesh Biswas, district cultural officer Abdul Rakibil Bari, and Sultan Smriti Sanggrahashala Curator Tandra Mukharjee. Artists such as Boldeb Adhikari, Nikhil Chandra Das, Mahbub Jamal Shamim, Sadi Taief, Mehedi Hasan Rana, Samir Majumder, and Sourav Banerjee were also in attendance, contributing to the event’s significance.
In a gesture of respect, participants paid tribute to the late eminent artist SM Sultan by placing a wreath on his grave. The festival will continue with a workshop scheduled for tomorrow, and on February 28, attendees can look forward to a puppet show and another workshop. Additionally, a seminar focusing on the life and works of SM Sultan is slated for the evening of February 28, offering deeper insights into his contributions to the art world.
