Dhaka: Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon today called upon teachers, guardians, and social workers to jointly build a social movement against drug abuse. "Educational institutions must play a leading role in eliminating drug abuse from society," he stated during a meeting at his ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Milon highlighted drug abuse as a major social menace and urged teachers to educate students in a manner that prevents their involvement in such activities. A delegation from Cumilla, led by Cumilla-6 lawmaker Md. Monirul Haque Chowdhury, attended the meeting. The delegation comprised Cumilla University Vice-Chancellor Prof MM Shariful Karim, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Amzad Hossain Sarker, Cumilla Education Board Secretary Prof Jahangir Alam, and heads of various educational institutions from the district.
Secondary and Higher Education Secretary Abdul Khaleque and Technical and Madrasah Education Secretary Md. Daud Miah were also present at the meeting.
