Militancy Was a Drama in Bangladesh in Past 18 Years: Mallick

Dhaka: Dhaka Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Md Rezaul Karim Mallick today declared there was no genuine militancy in Bangladesh. ‘The militancy was a mere drama in the country in the past 18 years. In the true sense of the term, there was no militancy in Bangladesh,’ he stated.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mallick made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an anti-terrorism civic rally held in the conference room of the Shariatpur Police Lines. During his address, he emphasized the emergence of a ‘New Bangladesh’ following the July Mass Uprising, highlighting ongoing efforts to embrace its spirit and build a better nation.



Mallick expressed the desire to eliminate drugs, terrorism, and extortion in Shariatpur, stressing the importance of maintaining law and order. He urged officers-in-charge and police officers in the Shariatpur and Madaripur districts to uphold peace and stability.



‘We want cooperation from all to uphold the law and order,’ he added, seeking community support in these efforts. The meeting was presided over by Police Super of Shariatpur Md Nazrul Islam and attended by additional police supers, officers-in-charge, political leaders, and journalists.
