Mild heat wave likely to continue across country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department today

predicted the ongoing mild to moderate heat wave is likely to continue at

places across the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.

“Mild heat to moderate heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Dhaka,

Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Gopalganj, Narayanganj, Rajshahi, Pabna,

Chapainawabganj, Cumilla, Chandpur, Khagrachhari, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira,

Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Magura, Barishal, Patuakhali and Bhola, and it

may continue,”said the weather bulletin issued this morning.

“Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly

unchanged over the country. Due to excessive moisture content the discomfort

may persist,” the bulletin said.

“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty

wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet

divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Chattogram divisions and at one or

two places over Rajshahi, Khulna and Barisal divisi

to heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” it

added.

Country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 38.3 degrees Celsius at

Bandarban. While, today’s minimum temperature 23.5 degrees Celsius was

recorded at Bandarban.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours commencing 6 am today was recorded 131mm at

Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6:47 pm today and rises at 5:11am tomorrow in the capital.
