Dhaka: A mild heat wave is currently affecting the districts of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Feni, Jashore, and Chuadanga, with the possibility of it persisting further. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued this update in its latest weather forecast.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BMD has identified a trough of low pressure over West Bengal and the adjoining areas, along with a seasonal low over the South Bay. Additionally, a low-pressure area is predicted to form over the South Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours. The Met office forecasts that rainfall accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds may occur in one or two places across the Rajshahi and Chattogram Divisions.
The report further indicates that the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies in other parts of the country. The day and night temperatures are anticipated to remain nearly unchanged across Bangladesh.
The Met office recorded the maximum temperature of 38.0 degrees Celsius at Baghabari in the Rangpur Division yesterday, while today's minimum temperature was noted at 18.5 degrees Celsius in Sylhet, under the Sylhet Division. The sunset in Dhaka is expected to occur at 06:17 pm today, with sunrise at 05:45 am tomorrow.
