Chattogram: Adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Affairs and the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Farooq-e-Azam Bir Pratik, today stated that the world has become hopeful through the humanistic philosophy of microcredit. “A new economic system in world – microcredit and social business – has been invented from Chattogram. This humanistic economic philosophy has surprised and given hope to the world,” he said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farooq-e-Azam made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the ‘7th Economics Olympiad 2025’, Chattogram Chapter, organized by Chattogram College. The event, which highlighted the role of microcredit and social business in economic development, drew notable figures from various sectors.
The event was presided over by Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, former adviser to the caretaker government and chairman of the Bangladesh Economics Olympiad. Other distinguished attendees included Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, Rohingya Refugee Relief and Repatriation Chairman Mizanur Rahman, and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam. Their presence underscored the significance of the discussions on the transformative potential of microcredit and social business models.
