Dhaka:MG Bangladesh has launched the new MG S9 PHEV, marking it as the largest seven-seater plug-in hybrid SUV available in the country, offering more than 100 km of electric driving range and a total range exceeding 1,000 km.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the announcement was made at the MG Bangladesh office in Dhaka. The SUV is tailored for families needing a vehicle for both daily commuting and long-distance trips, featuring a three-row cabin with electric driving capabilities and a petrol engine for extended travel.
The MG S9 PHEV is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, an electric motor, and a 24.7 kWh battery, allowing it to travel over 100 km on electric power alone. The vehicle can cover more than 1,000 km when the battery is fully charged and the fuel tank is full, providing enhanced flexibility for long-distance travel.
Measuring 4,983 mm in length with a 2,915 mm wheelbase, the S9's second and third rows can be folded to expand luggage capacity to 2,093 litres. It has a minimum ground clearance of 190 mm and includes features such as a panoramic opening sunroof, massaging front seats, tri-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a smart power tailgate.
The cabin of the SUV boasts dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. Additionally, it features MG Auto Pilot and advanced driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot detection, and rear cross-traffic alert, along with a 360-degree HD parking camera.
Hussain Mashnoor Chowdhury, CEO of MG Bangladesh, stated that the MG S9 PHEV meets the needs of Bangladeshi families who rely on one SUV for both daily travel and longer journeys, offering a spacious cabin and a larger electric range for everyday use, along with the flexibility of a petrol engine for extended trips. Imran Zaman Khan, divisional director of MG Bangladesh, highlighted the S9 PHEV's space, technology, and improved fuel efficiency within the seven-seat SUV segment.
The MG S9 PHEV is available at an introductory price of Tk 63.9 lakh for the first 100 units, with a regular price of Tk 64.9 lakh. Each vehicle includes two complimentary 11 kW home charging stations and an eight-year warranty.
