Rangpur: Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali has emphasized the importance of medical tests and seeking a doctor's advice to maintain health. He highlighted the necessity for everyone, including university teachers, students, and officials, to undergo regular health checkups to ensure good health and lead a normal life.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-chancellor expressed these views while inaugurating a daylong free healthcare camp at the Independence Memorial ground on the university campus, serving as the chief guest. The camp was organized by the BRUR administration with support from the Hypertension and Research Center, Rangpur (HRCR), providing free medical services to university members from 9 am to 5 pm.
The healthcare camp offered various services, including measuring diabetes levels, blood pressure, weight, and height. It also identified diabetes and high blood pressure cases and provided immediate treatment and advice. Additionally, registered patients received information about lifestyle and diseases, along with advisory and treatment books, particularly for those suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
Distinguished individuals present at the event included Professor Dr. Md Zakir Hossain, founder and executive director of HRCR, and former principal of Rangpur Medical College; Professor Dr. Md Sarwar Jahan, former principal of Rangpur Medical College; BRUR proctor Dr. Md Ferdous Rahman; and Dr. AMM Shahriar, deputy chief medical officer of BRUR Medical Center.
