Dhaka:Four children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, raising the country's total of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,144 this year.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) classified all four recent fatalities as suspected measles deaths. During this period, no confirmed deaths from the highly contagious airborne disease were reported.
With the latest figures, the number of suspected measles deaths has reached 1,040, while confirmed measles deaths remain at 104. Additionally, 1,332 new suspected measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of suspected cases nationwide to 201,625.
In the same period, 96 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, increasing the number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 22,116. Since March 15 this year, 178,927 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country, with 171,680 of them having recovered.
