Barishal: The Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026 has officially commenced in Barishal City Corporation (BCC), marking the beginning of a significant public health initiative aimed at protecting children from preventable diseases.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BCC Administrator Advocate Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shirin inaugurated the campaign at Mallika Kindergarten in the city. During the event, the administrator urged parents and guardians to offer their full cooperation to ensure the campaign’s success, stressing the critical role of vaccination in safeguarding children’s health and curbing the spread of measles and rubella.
Officials reported that the campaign aims to vaccinate a total of 42,210 children in Barishal city. Out of these, 33,600 children will receive vaccinations at the community level, while 8,610 children will be covered at the pre-school level.
The vaccination drive is scheduled to last three weeks. The first week will focus on administering vaccinations at pre-school institutions, followed by community-level vaccination activities in the second and third weeks.
Present at the programme were Divisional Health Officer Dr Shyamal Krishna Mondal, District Civil Surgeon Dr S M Manzur-Ea-Ealahi, BCC Executive Officer Rezaul Bari, and other officials.
