Rangpur: The total number of suspected measles-rubella patients in Rangpur division has increased to 485, with 82 more suspected cases identified in the last 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, out of the total 485 children identified as suspected based on symptoms, the health department has confirmed measles-rubella infection cases in 17 children across the division. Among these, 13 children have been diagnosed with measles and four with rubella, with no deaths reported so far, stated Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md Gausul Azim Chowdhury.
Of the total suspected cases, 42 have been identified in Rangpur, 15 in Lalmonirhat, seven in Kurigram, 85 in Nilphamari, 100 in Dinajpur, 30 in Gaibandha, 78 in Thakurgaon, 30 in Panchagarh, 42 at Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, and 56 at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Samples from every patient presenting symptoms at district or upazila level hospitals are sent to Dhaka for testing.
So far, 485 suspected patients with measles-rubella symptoms have received treatment either outdoors or have been admitted to two medical college hospitals, district-level hospitals, and upazila health complexes in Rangpur division. Dr. Md Gausul Azim Chowdhury reported that 436 children have recovered and returned home, while 49 remain under treatment.
Currently, three patients are being treated in Lalmonirhat, one in Rangpur, three in Kurigram, three in Nilphamari, four in Dinajpur, five in Gaibandha, eight in Thakurgaon, six in Dinajpur Medical College Hospital, and 16 in Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Patients admitted with symptoms are treated in isolation corners within the two medical college hospitals, district hospitals, and upazila health complexes across the division.
