Dhaka: The measles outbreak has led to 947 new suspected infections and three more deaths across the country in the past 24 hours.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 42 new confirmed measles cases were reported in the 24 hours ending at 8 am on April 3. Fortunately, no deaths were recorded among these confirmed cases, as stated by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release today.
The release further highlighted the alarming situation with 947 new infections suspected to be measles and three additional deaths occurring during the same period.
Between March 15 and April 3, the DGHS confirmed a total of 771 measles cases, while the number of suspected cases soared to 5,792. During this period, nine deaths were confirmed, with an additional 94 suspected deaths potentially linked to measles.
The report also mentioned that 2,527 patients have recovered from the infection so far, reflecting some positive outcomes amid the concerning rise in cases.
