Measles: Death Toll Hits 963 as 3 More Die in 24 Hrs

Dhaka: Three more children died with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours until 8:00 am on Saturday, bringing the country's combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 963 this year.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has classified all three latest fatalities as suspected measles deaths. With these recent deaths, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 864, while the confirmed deaths from measles have remained unchanged at 99.

During the same 24-hour period, a total of 886 new suspected measles cases were reported, increasing the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 155,678. Additionally, 57 new confirmed measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed infections to 18,853.

Since March 15 this year, a total of 136,257 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalized across the country. Of these, 131,264 have recovered, as per DGHS data.
