Lalmonirhat: Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu, MP, has emphasized the necessity for fair and participatory elections within various institutions and organizations. "Elections should not be merely a political or organizational formality; they should provide people with a free and democratic opportunity to express their opinions," stated Dulu while addressing the media.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister's remarks were made during the 34th Annual General Meeting and Executive Board Election 2026-28 of the Dr Selima Diabetic and General Hospital Association held in Lalmonirhat town on Saturday afternoon. The press release from the Rangpur Regional PID Office highlighted Dulu's optimism about fair elections across different bodies following the presidential election, which took place after a 36-year hiatus.

Dulu noted that recent elections at the Lalmonirhat Chamber and the Railway, along with the one at the Dr Selima Diabetic and General Hospital Association, mark a positive trend. He stressed the importance of conducting these elections in a festive environment with active participation from all members.

The minister believes that fair and participatory elections will enhance the functionality of institutions, making them more people-oriented by empowering members to select candidates of their choice. Lalmonirhat District Council Administrator AKM Mominul Haque and other political leaders were in attendance at the briefing.

Prior to the meeting, Dulu inaugurated road development projects on the Air Khamar Primary School-Kalakhawa Ghat and Selim Nagar-Basuria Government Primary School routes in the Lalmonirhat district.
