Dhaka: Md. Asaduzzaman, a prominent figure in Bangladesh's legal and political landscape, was born on January 31, 1971, in Baraipara village of Jhenaidah District. He hails from a respected Muslim family, being the son of Sheikh Md. Israil Hossain and Begum Rokeya. Asaduzzaman's educational journey began in Jhenaidah, where he completed his SSC and HSC examinations before moving to the University of Dhaka to earn his LL.B. (Honours) and LL.M. degrees with distinction.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asaduzzaman's legal career commenced in 1995 when he became an advocate of the Bangladesh Bar Council. His commitment to the profession saw him rise through the ranks, becoming an advocate for the High Court Division of the Supreme Court in 1996, a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association in 1997, and an advocate of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court in 2005. By 2023, he achieved the status of Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court.
Early in his career, Asaduzzaman worked with Mr. Nizamul Haque Nasim and later joined Barrister Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed as a junior, eventually becoming a partner at Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed and Associates. His legal expertise spans writ, tax, company, and civil law. Parallel to his legal endeavors, he has been actively involved in politics, serving as the Human Rights Affairs Secretary of the BNP's National Executive Committee and as a Human Rights Adviser to Tarique Rahman.
Asaduzzaman's dedication to human rights saw him elected as the General Secretary of the Executive Committee of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK). His political career reached a new height following the 2024 mass uprising, when he was appointed as the 17th Attorney General for Bangladesh. During his tenure, he was instrumental in upholding the rule of law.
In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Asaduzzaman was elected as a Member of Parliament from Jhenaidah-1, securing a decisive victory. On February 17, 2026, he took oath as an MP and as the Cabinet Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
In his personal life, Asaduzzaman is married to Shirin Sultana, a teacher, and is the father of two daughters. His family continues his legacy of excellence, with his elder daughter studying law in the UK and his younger daughter pursuing her studies in Bangladesh.
