Rangpur: Leaders and activists of anti-discrimination student movement, BNP, NCP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan, and other organizations have taken out a massive protest march demanding a ban on Awami League politics and a speedy trial of Sheikh Hasina and her associates. The protest march started from the DC Intersection area of Rangpur city after the Juma prayers today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the procession circled various roads and gathered at a massive protest rally on the main road in front of the Civil Surgeon’s office and Rangpur Zilla School. During the protest, anti-discrimination student movement Rangpur district convener Imran Ahmed (Chand), National Citizen Party (NCP) central member Abul Muneem, its joint chief organizer Sadia Farzana Dina, and organizers Sheikh Rezwan and Alamgir Nayan, among others, addressed the gathering.
During the protest rally, the speakers accused the Awami League of killing thousands of people to maintain its power and smuggling billions of Taka abroad. They claimed that terrorists associated with the Awami League have attacked, shot, and killed hundreds of revolutionary students and innocent people across the country during the July-August Revolution.
The speakers demanded that the Awami League should not be allowed to engage in politics under any circumstances and called for its immediate ban. Imran Ahmed emphasized that the Awami League has committed crimes against humanity by killing students, youth, and innocent people, and alleged that the party is conspiring against the country and its citizens.
Hundreds of leaders and activists from NCP, Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Gono Odhikar Parishad, the anti-discrimination student movement, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Islami Chhatra Shibir, and other organizations participated in the protest march and rally.
