Khulna: Administrator of Khulna City Corporation Nazrul Islam Manju today stressed the need to develop the habit of consuming vegetables and fruits daily. He also urged people to avoid packaged and unhealthy foods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Manju emphasized the importance of maintaining nutritional value and highlighted proper practices in food production, transportation, preservation, and cooking. He pointed out that nutritious food enhances human immunity and called on everyone to be aware of consuming safe and nutritious food.
Manju made these remarks as the chief guest while inaugurating National Nutrition Week at Shaheed Hadis Park in the city. This year's theme for the week is 'End of Nutrition Inequality, Let's Build a Self-reliant Bangladesh.'
The event was presided over by Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr Mosammat Mahfuza Khatun. Among others, Deputy Director of the Local Government Department of the district administration Md Ariful Islam and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Md Mizanur Rahman spoke at the event, while Senior Health Officer of the Civil Surgeon's Office Md Abul Kalam Azad conducted the proceedings.
Following the discussion, a colourful rally led by the KCC administrator started from Shaheed Hadis Park, paraded through different roads, and ended at the Civil Surgeon's Office in Khulna. People from various walks of life took part in the rally.
