Chandpur: A man was killed and another injured in a road accident on Shibpur Bangla Bazar road in Tamta Utatar union under Shahrasti upazila of the district this morning. The deceased was Rabiul Alam, 52, a cloth trader and son of late Ali Akbar Master, a resident of Shibpur Noabari area in Shahrasti upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred around 10:10 am when a sand-laden drum truck hit a CNG-run autorickshaw from behind. The collision resulted in the immediate death of autorickshaw passenger Rabiul Alam, while the driver was injured.
The injured autorickshaw driver, Mehedi Hasan, 23, son of Kamal Hossain of the Islampur Faraji Bari area in neighboring Kachua upazila, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Officer-in-Charge of Shahrasti Model Police Station Mir Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the incident and stated that necessary legal action is being taken over the accident.
