Man Killed by Lightning While Traveling on Train Roof in Ghorashal

Ghorashal: A man was killed after being struck by lightning while traveling on the roof of a train in the Ghorashal area of Narsingdi on the Dhaka-Chattogram railway route on Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Sajib Sarker, 35, son of Shamsul Haque Sarkar of Fuldi village under Palashthali union of Raipura upazila. He worked at a restaurant in Dhaka and was returning home for Eid holidays.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred around 4:30 pm when the Noakhali-bound Upakul Express, which had left Dhaka, was passing through the Ghorashal railway station area under Palash upazila during heavy rain. Eyewitnesses reported that Sajib was on the roof of coach No. 'Chha' when lightning struck, leaving him dead on the spot.

Later, the train reached Narsingdi railway station, where railway police recovered the body from the roof. Narsingdi Railway Outpost Police Inspector Md Nazim Uddin stated that the police recovered the body, which showed burn injuries on the chest, after being informed. Legal procedures are underway, he added.
