Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport detained an employee of Qatar Airways with 56 gold bars from the airport Thursday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Md Tajul Islam, an Airport Services Agent for Qatar Airways.
Deputy Commissioner (Preventive) of Dhaka Customs House Sanwarul Kabir said Tajul Islam was detained along with the gold bars weighing about 6.5 kg from the boarding bridge area of the airport.
The customs official said that Tajul is being interrogated and a case will be filed against him with Airport police station after the interrogation and he will be handed over to the airport police station.
