JAMALPUR, A court here today sentenced a man to life
imprisonment for killing his wife in 2017.
The convicted person was identified as Md Minal Haque, 45, son of Md Abul
Haque at Kolabadha village in Melandah upazila of the district.
Senior District and Sessions Judge Ehsanul Haque handed down the verdict to
the convicted Minal Haque.
The convict was also fined Taka 50,000, in default, to suffer six-month more
in jail.
According to the prosecution, Minal Haque married with Mina Begum, 35, about
17-year ago and blessed with two children. He used to torture her after his
second marriage.
At one stage, Minal suffocated to kill Mina and dumped her body in a pond.
Police recovered her body from the pond on September 3, 2017 and nabbed Minal
in this connection.
After examining 19 witnesses and relevant documents, the court found him
guilty and gave the punishment.
