Jhenaidah: A man died after being electrocuted in the Sarabaria area under Kaliganj upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain, 35, son of Akbar Biswas, a resident of Sarabaria area of the upazila. Jahangir came in contact with an electric wire while he was starting an electric motor for watering his seedbed around 12.30 pm. He was taken to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctors declared him dead. Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station (Investigation) Mofazzel Hossain confirmed the matter.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident occurred as Jahangir was engaging in routine agricultural activities. His sudden demise has left the local community in shock. The police have noted the incident as accidental and have advised locals to exercise caution when handling electrical equipment, especially in rural and agricultural settings where safety standards may not always be strictly observed.
