Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) convened its seventh meeting today to deliberate on the code of conduct for political parties and candidates, as well as the pressing issue of constituency delimitation. The meeting, presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin, took place at Nirbachon Bhaban in Agargaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting also addressed the challenges and implications of delimiting constituencies, a matter highlighted by the director of public relations of the EC. Present at the meeting were the CEC, four other election commissioners, the EC secretary, and other relevant officials.
The discussions come in the wake of the government issuing the Parliamentary Constituencies Delimitation (Amendment) Ordinance-2025 on May 12. The EC has, to date, received 607 applications concerning the delimitation of 75 constituencies within the Jatiya Sangsad, as noted by Commissioner Abul Fazal M Sanaullah.
