Nagoya:Aichi-Nagoya Malaysia's hopes for gold at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games remain strong as squash players S. Sivasangari and Ng Eain Yow advance to the finals in their respective singles events.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sivasangari, currently ranked fifth in the world, secured her spot in the final by defeating Chan Sin Yuk from Hong Kong with scores of 11-6, 11-8, 11-7 at the Nagoya Kinjofuto Arena. This victory brings the 27-year-old closer to defending her gold medal from the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
Sivasangari is set to compete against Indian player Anahat Singh, who is ranked 17th in the world. Their head-to-head record shows Sivasangari's advantage with previous wins at the 2026 London Squash Classic and the 2025 British Open. However, the match is significant as it also offers a direct qualification to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, adding pressure to the encounter.
In the men's singles, Ng Eain Yow, ranked 18th globally, secured his place in the final by defeating Pakistan's Noor Zaman with scores of 11-7, 11-2, 11-4. Eain Yow will compete against Indian player Abhay Singh, ranked 24th in the world, in the gold medal match.
