Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md. Mahfuj Alam has urged Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure that the ‘Notun Kuri’ competition is conducted in a neutral and inclusive manner. He made this call during a meeting with divisional commissioners and DCs, which was held virtually from the Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s meeting room.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahfuj emphasized the significance of the ‘Notun Kuri’ competition, which is being relaunched after a hiatus with the goal of fostering cultural awakening among the new generation. He stressed the importance of identifying talented children and adolescents at the local level, noting that failure to do so would affect the outcomes in the final phase held in Dhaka.
The adviser expressed optimism that if children and adolescents could advance to the final stage through a transparent, impartial, and inclusive system, it would positively impact national culture. He highlighted the crucial role of district and divisional administrations in the regional and divisional selections of the competition, respectively. Mahfuj underscored the necessity of impartial judgment in the competition and called for providing opportunities for children from all communities, regardless of religion or caste, to participate.
He further stated that the competition plays a vital role in the cultural arena and should be made festive and lively by increasing the number of competitors. He urged the DCs to enhance publicity through social media and other channels to encourage participation among children and adolescents.
Information and Broadcasting Secretary Mahbuba Farjana added that the competition would be more effective if district administrations held meetings with local stakeholders. She also encouraged DCs to involve local journalists in promoting the competition. During the meeting, DCs from Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Joypurhat, Meherpur, and Chattogram discussed their districts’ preparations for organizing the competition.
BTV Director General Md. Mahbubul Alam and senior ministry officials were also present at the meeting.
