Mahdi Amin and Saleh Shibly Appointed as PMO Spokespersons

Dhaka: Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin and Press Secretary AAM Saleh Shibly have been appointed as spokespersons for the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to manage the dissemination of official information across press and media platforms. This development was announced through a circular issued by the PMO, indicating that the appointments were made under Rule 28(4) of the Rules of Business, 1996, and are effective immediately.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin holds the rank of state minister and serves as an adviser for several ministries including Education, Primary and Mass Education, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Labour and Employment. He has been a significant figure in political circles, contributing to the BNP’s central election committee for the 13th parliamentary elections and playing a key role in policy formulation concerning inclusive development and state reforms.



In addition to his political engagements, Mahdi Amin has been influential in socio-economic development policy initiatives in South Asia and has maintained a close working relationship with the current Prime Minister over the years. His previous roles include serving as an adviser to Tarique Rahman and being a member of the BNP Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee.



AAM Saleh Shibly, on the other hand, brings a wealth of experience from his career in media and public relations, having worked with several notable outlets such as UNB and Channel i. His leadership roles include serving as the general secretary for both the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity and the Dhaka University Journalists’ Association. Shibly’s experience extends to international diplomacy, having served as First Secretary (Press) at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata during the four-party alliance government.



Saleh Shibly has also been closely associated with the Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, further solidifying his credentials for this new role. Both Amin and Shibly’s appointments reflect their longstanding commitments and contributions to the political and media landscapes of Bangladesh.
