Chattogram: A madrasa superintendent was allegedly beaten to death over a land dispute in Charmba Union of Lohagara upazila in Chattogram on Wednesday afternoon. Victim Maulana Abul Kashem, who was the superintendent of Charmba Jamiul Ulum Madrasa and a resident of Ward No. 6 of Charmba Union, succumbed to his injuries after being hit with a stick during the clash.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the incident occurred when Abul Kashem got into an argument with an opponent over a long-standing land dispute. The altercation escalated, leading to Kashem being struck with a stick, which resulted in serious injuries. Locals quickly intervened and took him to a hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. He had visible injury marks on his head, indicating the severity of the attack.
Mohammad Abdullah, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station, stated that the police recovered the body from the hospital after receiving information about the incident and have sent it for an autopsy. He also mentioned that one person has been taken into custody on suspicion of involvement, with efforts underway to arrest others implicated in the incident.
