Dhaka: Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a reduction in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for a 12 kg cylinder, decreasing the cost by Taka 28. The new price, effective from 6 PM today, will be Taka 1,450, down from Taka 1,478.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed stated at a media briefing that all LPG marketing companies are expected to implement the new pricing immediately. Furthermore, the BERC has re-adjusted the price of auto gas to Taka 66.43 per litre, marking a reduction of Taka 1.43.
The BERC also provided a statement that expanded on Ahmed's remarks, noting that the price per kilogram of LPG will now be Taka 120.81 at the retail level. The revised pricing structure for LPG cylinders of various weights owned by the private sector has also been detailed. For instance, a 5.5 kg cylinder is now priced at Tk. 664, a 12.5 kg cylinder at Tk. 1510, and a 45 kg cylinder at Tk. 5,436.
The price adjustments align with changes in the international market, as Saudi Aramco has reduced the official selling prices for propane and butane for March. The new prices are set at $615 per tonne for propane and $605 per tonne for butane.
