Dhaka:Passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport can now watch their baggage being handled live, thanks to a new system installed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, 32 CCTV cameras and 18 large-screen monitors have been set up across eight baggage conveyor belt areas at the airport. This initiative aims to enhance security, transparency, and accountability in baggage handling operations.

The new system allows passengers to monitor their luggage in real time, from unloading at the aircraft to transportation, sorting, and delivery onto the baggage collection belts. Monitors in the baggage reclaim areas display live footage of these processes, enabling passengers to follow the movement of their belongings before collection.

This technology-driven initiative is designed to improve operational efficiency and strengthen passenger confidence in the safety and handling of their luggage. It is expected to be especially beneficial for expatriate Bangladeshis and international travelers.

CAAB has expressed its commitment to protecting passenger interests and enhancing airport management by aligning with international standards. The authority is also working to expand technology-based and passenger-friendly services to make baggage collection more convenient and hassle-free.
