Dhaka:Bangladesh wicket-keeper batter Liton will undergo a fitness assessment on Saturday to evaluate his availability for the upcoming Test series against West Indies.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the assessment will focus on Liton's recovery and help determine his readiness to return to action, as stated by a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official.

Liton was previously ruled out of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series in the United Arab Emirates due to a right hip joint injury. This injury was identified through an MRI scan, leading the BCB to withdraw him from the squad as a precautionary measure. Parvez Hossain Emon was called up as his replacement.

The result of Saturday's assessment is expected to provide clarity on Liton's chances of playing in the two-match Test series. The opening Test is set to commence on October 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, followed by the second match starting on November 5 in Sylhet.

The BCB has yet to announce the squad for the series, as Liton's fitness remains a crucial factor for the selectors.
