Bashundhara:Young cricketer Kalam Siddiki Aleen delivered an impressive performance by scoring a century, helping BCB XI reach a total of 371-7 on the first day of the two-day practice match against the visiting West Indies at Anveer Cricket Stadium.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the West Indies team is participating in this match as part of their preparation for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. However, their bowlers struggled to make a significant impact against the youthful BCB XI batters, who excelled after being put to bat first.

The West Indies managed an early breakthrough when Jayden Seals dismissed Mahfijul Islam Robin for just 4 runs, followed by Jomel Warrican removing Iftakhar Hossain Ifti for 18. Despite these early setbacks, opener Jisan Alam and Kalam Siddiki Aleen stabilized the innings with a 62-run partnership for the third wicket. Jisan Alam narrowly missed a century, getting out for 86, an innings featuring 11 fours and two sixes.

Kalam played a vital role with his 135-run innings, which included 20 fours and a six, before getting dismissed. Chowdhury Mohammad Rizwan further frustrated the West Indies bowlers with a score of 59 runs. Captain Jaker Ali Anik contributed 30 runs. At the end of the day, Shamim Patwari remained not out on 35, alongside Abdul Halim, who has yet to score.

West Indies bowlers Joshua Bishop and Kavem Hodge each secured two wickets during the day's play.
