Kurigram: A 42-year-old man and his wife lost their lives after being struck by lightning at their residence in Saheber Alga village under Ulipur upazila of the district on Tuesday evening. The victims were identified as Jahangir Hossain, a farmer, and his wife Rubi Begum, 35.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the incident took place around 7:30 pm when lightning struck the tin-roofed house where Jahangir Hossain and his wife were present. Both individuals were killed instantly.
Their three children, who were in another room at the time, escaped unharmed. Alga Union Parishad Chairman Mozaffar Hossain confirmed the incident, expressing the profound impact on the community. “We are speechless at this tragic moment. The children have lost their parents and become orphans. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the entire area,” he stated.
