Manikganj: One person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on the Manikganj-Hemayetpur Regional Highway last night. The deceased was identified as Mahin, 22, son of Abdul Mannan of Degirchar, Gopinathpur Union, Harirampur Upazila in the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Singair Police Station, JOM Toufiq Aziz, reported that the accident occurred at about 9:00 pm on Tuesday. A Dhaka-bound speeding truck collided head-on with a Manikganj-bound CNG, resulting in the immediate death of Mahin and critically injuring two others.
The injured individuals are identified as Ratna, 20, sister of the deceased, and Rupchand, the driver of the CNG. Local residents rescued the injured and initially took them to the Singair Upazila Health Complex. However, due to the severity of their conditions, they were referred to Dhaka Shahid Sahrarwardy Hospital.
The driver of the truck managed to flee with the vehicle, noted the OC. The body of the deceased was sent to Manikganj 250 Hospital for autopsy.
