Dhaka:A special lecture titled "The Two-State Solution at a Crossroads What Future for Palestine?" was held at the Department of International Relations, University of Dhaka (DU). The event featured Prof. Dr. Sanaa Alsarghali, UNESCO Chair of An-Najah National University, Palestine, as the keynote speaker, with Prof. Dr. A. S. M. Ali Ashraf, Chairman of the Department of International Relations, presiding over the session.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof. Dr. Alsarghali discussed the prospect of a viable path for Palestine emerging by September 2025. She emphasized that international justice and rights advisors have consistently characterized the situation as an illegal occupation, prompting nations dedicated to international law to support the New York Declaration. This declaration, led by France and Sweden, seeks to reinvigorate the two-state solution, address the ongoing crisis in Palestine, and facilitate the establishment of a livable and democratic Palestinian state.

Prof. Alsarghali further explained that while the creation of a livable Palestinian state involves factors beyond Palestinian control, achieving a democratic state requires the Palestinian Authority to implement a series of reforms. Some of these reforms are to be executed by Palestinian authorities, while others are externally imposed.

She also highlighted the importance of adapting to the evolving geopolitical landscape, noting the potential for a Palestinian state to gain recognition even while under occupation.
