Lawmakers say NA does not belong to ‘Lords’ and ‘Kin’

Kathmandu: National Assembly (NA) members aired their views in the 15th session of the NA that started today at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

Calling for unity among political parties to further strengthen federal democratic republic system, Jaga Prasad Sharma said that the State should seriously consider to those raising questions about existing governance system.

“The relevance of the National Assembly has been raised by showing minor weaknesses. It is not the assembly of the Lords of the Britain nor is it the House of Kin. It is the permanent assembly that is envisaged by the constitution and elected by the local and provincial representatives,” he argued, pressing for the need to proving the relevance and meaningfulness of the NA.

Likewise, NA Member Devendra Dahal blamed that irregularities have spiked in the country although the incumbent government initiated the campaign for good-governance, social justice and economic prosperity.

He also accused the government of failing to tak
e actions against those involved in big scams of corruption and misappropriation in cooperatives organizations.

Similarly, NA Member Rameshjung Rayamajhi viewed that the major opposition party had stoked frustration among the people. Calling for everyone’s cooperation to make the incumbent government a success, he underscored creating an enabling environment for job creation and self-employment to reduce brain drain from the country.

Jayanti Rai drew the attention of the government towards formulation of laws related to implementation of constitution. She demanded stern actions against those encroaching or taking over the public land.

Mrigendra Kumar Singh Yadav emphasized that the current session of the NA should conclude all Bills related to transitional justice.

Tul Prasad Bishwakarma argued that the monarchy could not be an alternative to the current governance system and opined that the government should be more responsible in addressing the needs of the public.
