Dhaka: Land Ministry Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed today announced that automated land services are a crucial step in modernizing the land administration system. “Through this system, citizens are now getting various land-related services easily, quickly and transparently. Land is one of the main components of a country’s economic and social development. Proper management of land and ensuring easy access to land services for citizens is one of the responsibilities of the government,” he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Saleh Ahmed made these comments during the ToT training for concerned officers and employees from four districts in the Rangpur division and one district in the Khulna division. The event took place at the computer lab of the Department of Land Records and Survey in the capital. Fifty participants, ranging from Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) to Computer Operator, took part in the two-day training organized by the Land Management Automation Project.
Saleh Ahmed emphasized the formation of a modern technology-based land administration, skilled manpower, and people-friendly policies to ensure fast, transparent, and accurate land services. He underlined that the primary goal of these activities is to provide easy access to land services for the people. He noted that land services in Bangladesh have almost entirely gone digital, allowing citizens to receive services online from their homes.
The Senior Secretary highlighted the ministry’s efforts to fulfill the commitment of making land services easily accessible to citizens. He mentioned that Citizen Land Service Centers are being established in each district and are operational in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, based on necessity. He stressed the importance of technology, public awareness, and the sincerity of service providers in delivering land services efficiently.
Training land officers, implementing the Citizen Charter, and promoting a service-oriented attitude are also deemed critical steps by Saleh Ahmed. The main aim of the training is to enhance the skills of land officers and employees, enabling them to train other colleagues upon returning to their offices. This approach facilitates the swift and smooth implementation of automated services across all administrative levels.
Saleh Ahmed elaborated that the training equips participants with technology-based skills alongside management, communication, and training delivery strategies. This leads to a faster implementation of automated land services, reduces citizen suffering, and increases transparency and accountability in services. He concluded that the skilled trainers emerging from ToT training are pivotal to the future of land administration, ensuring the continuity and quality of automated land services. This initiative marks a groundbreaking transformation in Bangladesh’s land sector.
Additional Secretary Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury was also present at the event.
