Dhaka: Land ministry senior secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed emphasized the necessity of providing optimum services to land service seekers, particularly in the correction of khatians. Speaking at a workshop titled ‘Automated Land and Correction of the Recorded Khatian in Service System’ held at the conference room of the Bhumi Bhaban, Ahmed stated that khatian serves as the primary proof of land position, rather than the deed of ownership.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the workshop was organized by the Land Reforms Board and highlighted the importance of ensuring accurate khatian records. Ahmed pointed out that if a name is mistakenly recorded in a khatian instead of the actual owner, it does not alter the ownership, nor does it affect the rights of the legitimate landowner.
The event was attended by notable figures including Additional Secretary (Development) of the land ministry Md Emdadul Haque Chowdhury, Additional Secretary (field administration) Md Mahfuzur Rahman, and Project Director Md Parvez Hassan, who were present to discuss and address the challenges in the current land service systems.
