Dhaka: Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Huq Chowdhury emphasized the importance of reinforcing the relationship between workers and employers to effectively address the challenges currently confronting the government. He made this assertion during a meeting with representatives from the Bangladesh Employers Federation held at the Labour and Employment Ministry’s conference room in Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister highlighted the necessity for the country to explore new labour markets and to prioritize practical initiatives over rhetoric. He stated, “We have to identify new labour markets. It is not enough to just speak; we must work with national interest as our priority. We are here to work, with no other agenda.”
State Minister for Labour and Employment M. Nurul Huq also addressed the gathering. He pointed out that Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) programs for outgoing migrant workers are not being conducted properly, which is leading to negative perceptions about Banglade
shi workers overseas. The state minister underscored the need to develop skilled human resources by making training centers more active and effective.
Senior officials of the ministry and representatives of the Bangladesh Employers Federation were also in attendance at the meeting.
