Dhaka: Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today urged all political and social organizations to collaborate, regardless of party affiliation, for the sake of peace, discipline, and national development. He emphasized the importance of unity during a views exchange meeting with senior officials of law enforcement agencies, Dhaka-14 MP Mir Ahmad Bin Qasem, and Dhaka-16 MP Abdul Baten this morning.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Rahman underscored the vital role of law enforcement agencies in safeguarding citizens’ lives and properties and in establishing a justice-based society. He stressed the need to enhance public trust, urging the agencies to adopt a more people-friendly and effective approach to gain the confidence of the populace.
The meeting, which included Jamaat central executive council member and Ameer of Dhaka North city unit Selim Uddin, Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, and law enforcement officials from the two constituencies, focused extensively on the overall law and order situation in Dhaka-14 and Dhaka-16 constituencies. Discussions covered citizens’ safety, anti-drug and anti-terrorism efforts, the prevention of juvenile gang activities, and measures to maintain social harmony.
The MPs addressed various field-level challenges and opportunities, highlighting the need for coordinated initiatives to combat crime alongside ongoing development activities in their respective areas. Representatives of the law enforcement agencies called for public cooperation and provided updates on ongoing special drives and awareness programs aimed at enhancing security and maintaining stability in the regions.
