KUET VC and KMP Commissioner Discuss Police Outpost Plans on Campus

Khulna: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan today paid a courtesy call on Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Professor Dr Muhammad Masud. The meeting took place at the VC’s office within the university’s administrative building at noon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, following their discussions, the officials visited the proposed site for a permanent police outpost on the KUET campus. KMP Commissioner Hasan assured that the decision regarding the site for the police outpost would be finalized soon, with operations expected to commence at the earliest opportunity.



In attendance were senior police officials, including Additional Police Commissioner (Admin and Finance) and Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Protocol) Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, Deputy Police Commissioner (F and B) and newly promoted Additional DIG M M Shakiluzzaman, Deputy Police Commissioner (North Division) Sudarshan Kumar Roy, along with other police officials.



Representing KUET at the event were Director (Planning and Development) Professor Dr Md Rokonuzzaman, Director (Student Welfare) Professor Dr Md Hasan Ali, Chairman of the Security Committee Professor Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Acting Chief Engineer Engineer G M Mahfuzur Rahman, and Director of Infrastructure and Academic Activities Expansion Project Engineer Dr Md Zulfikar Hossain.



Following the site visit, the guests were invited to the Vice-Chancellor’s bungalow. On April 25, KUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Masud had previously met with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir to discuss the law and order situation on the KUET campus and its surrounding areas. During that meeting, the VC advocated for the establishment of a permanent police outpost on campus, a proposal the IGP supported, instructing the KMP Commissioner to expedite its implementation.
