CIRDAP DG Calls on Mirza Fakhrul to Discuss Rural Development Cooperation

Dhaka: Director General of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), Dr. P. Chandra Shekhar, paid a courtesy call on LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the Secretariat here today. The meeting focused on discussions related to enhancing mutual cooperation in research, training, innovation, and implementing sustainable development plans in the rural development sector.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, both parties expressed their interest in working jointly to address innovative challenges and undertake effective development initiatives. Mirza Fakhrul noted that a joint initiative with CIRDAP would bring renewed momentum to rural development efforts. The Minister emphasized that CIRDAP could serve as a significant partner for Bangladesh in bolstering research, skill development, and innovative activities in rural development, and assured that the Bangladesh government would provide comprehensive support for such initiatives.



CIRDAP Director General, Dr. P. Chandra Shekhar, praised Bangladesh’s ongoing development activities, particularly highlighting the government’s ‘Family Card’ initiative as a timely and people-friendly measure. Shahidul Haque, Secretary of the Local Government Division; Mohang Shawkat Rashid Chowdhury, Secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division; along with other senior officials of the ministry, participated in the meeting.
