Khulna: Khulna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hoore Jannat today urged the authorities concerned to install solar panels at government establishments with rooftops measuring at least 1,000 square feet and a usable lifespan of 20 years, in line with government directives to conserve electricity.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, she made the call while chairing the monthly meeting of the Khulna District Development Coordination Committee at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's office. The DC said Pankhali Union in Dacope upazila has recently been declared and launched as one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Villages in the country. She stressed the importance of active participation by all relevant government departments in making the village suitable for implementing the initiative.
Hoore Jannat also emphasized the need to maintain cleanliness at all government offices, schools, and colleges to prevent dengue, describing the disease as a major concern at present. Deputy Director of the Local Government Division at the DC Office Md Ariful Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitaan Kumar Mondal, upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs), and officials from different government departments, among others, attended the meeting.
